The Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was an American brewery based in Milwaukee,
and once the largest producer of beer in the United States.
In 1999, Pabst Brewing Company gained control of the Schlitz brand with aquisition
of the Stroh Brewery Company.
The Schlitz brand is still alive today and remains a sentimental favorite in the Midwest.

After WWII, it constructed or purchased facilities overseas.These multinational operations made the name California Packing Corporation obsolete, and in June 1967, the corporation adopted the name of its leading brand to become Del Monte Corporation.
