    東海岸を代表する大物ヒップホップ・ユニット、Gang Starrの5年ぶりのオリジナル・アルバム。DJ Premierの織りなす独自のビートは数多くのフォロワーを作り、90年代前半は向かうところ敵無しといった状態であった。一方、GuruはGang Starrからジャズ寄りに一歩進めたプロジェクト、ジャズマタズで高い評価を得ている。ここ数年、西・南に押され気味だったヒップホップ・シーンが、今年に入ってからPremierの本拠地D&DスタジオのレーベルD&D Recordsが息を吹き返して精力的にリリースを続けており、じわじわとEast Sideが勢力を盛り返してきている。そこへきてGang Starrの新作がドロップされるとはナント絶妙なタイミング！最近はEminem主演の映画「8Mile」のサントラに新曲を提供、先行シングル"Skills / NATURAL"はリリースするなり話題沸騰!
